The rare instance of a musical thriller, Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's chilling, suspenseful, heart-pounding masterpiece of murderous barber-ism and culinary crime tells the infamous tale of the unjustly exiled barber who returns to 19th century London seeking revenge against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife.

"A work of such scope and such daring that it dwarfs every other Broadway musical that even attempts to invite comparison." - Rex Reed, New York Daily News

David Sims is thrilled to be given the opportunity to direct his absolute favorite piece of musical theatre, Sweeney Todd.  His last visit to Centre Stage was to direct Frederick Knott’s Wait Until Dark.  Before and since then he has directed Amadeus, Frozen, and The Book of Liz at the Warehouse Theatre, where he served in the first ever Journeyman class and currently serves on the Board of Directors.  In the daytime Mr. Sims can be found at Christ Church Episcopal School, where after 11 years of teaching, he is beginning his first year as the Director of the Arts.  David is also Editor of Upstate Onstage, a website devoted to professional, amateur, and educational theater in the Upstate. He also writes music; most recently for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolfe and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the Warehouse, and in 2009 released a CD of original music, Fences.  David would like to thank his wife Christian, and two daughters Dylan and Ellison.
