Directed by Brian Haimbach, You Are Here tells the story of a father and son dealing with growing pains. Guy wants to go away to college and Roger wants life to stay as it is. Their life has not been easy. Roger's developmental disability has kept guy from having a normal childhood. When they are faced with the most difficult decision of their lives, they must decide what is really important. Selected as the best out of over 200 submissions, this heart-warming play is the winner of the 2011 New Play Festival. Tickets are only $10 to see this exciting, up-and-coming new playwright! Meet the Director:

Brian Haimbach
Brian earned his Ph.D. in theatre with a specialization in directing and new play development from University of Georgia. Directing credits include Hamlet, Marat/Sade, Top Girls, The Exonerated,Amadeus and The Rocky Horror Show . As a director and/or producer he has worked on world premier productions and/or readings of plays by Lee Blessing, Arlene Hutton, Caridad Svich, Catherine Trieschmann and Peter Snoad as well as numerous emerging playwrights. Professionally he has spent time with Touchstone Theatre, Chicago Dramatists and the O’Neill Playwrights Conference and is currently the head of Centre Stage’s New Play Festival. He created the Associates of Arts in Theatre program at Greenville Technical College where he was recently one of the first ambassadors in a faculty exchange program with Copenhagen Technical College. He has taught in the theatre departments of Texas Tech, USC Upstate and University of Georgia. He recently served as a director and dramaturg/respondent at the Great Plains Theatre Conference in Omaha, Nebraska.



The Cast
John P. Fagan (Roger) is thrilled to be returning to Centre Stage with You Are Here. His previous Centre Stage directing experiences include: Rock 'n Roll Yule, Sylvia, It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, The Skin of Our TeethAnd the World Goes ‘Round with Kander and Ebb, andSordid Lives. John has just completed his 13th season as Artistic Director of the Upstate Shakespeare Festival with productions of Cymbeline and The Taming of the Shrew. He has directed many other shows at The Warehouse Theatre, Spartanburg Little Theatre, Greenville Little Theatre, and Clemson University.

Hunter Spangler (Guy) is thrilled to be in his first professional production at Center Stage. From Richmond, Virginia, Hunter is now a sophomore at Clemson University majoring in Theatre. He has been in multiple shows such as The Way of the World, As You Like It and The Bald Soprano. He will be starring as Nathan Detroit in the upcoming Clemson production of Guys and Dolls. He would like to thank his family and friends for all of their support.

Connie Clark (Clarice) is making her stage debut at Centre Stage with this production, though she has appeared in past staged readings, including playing the HRH Queen Elizabeth III in Lee Blessings’ Perilous Night during the 2007 New Play Festival.  She has also appeared in performances at the Warehouse Theatre and the Spartanburg Little Theatre. Connie’s solo performance plasys as Emily Dickenson and Sarah Bernhardt have received rave notices from international critics

Katelyn McGuirk (Emily) is ecstatic to be working on her first professional show.  She is from Boca Raton, Florida and is in the middle of her third year at Clemson University.  She has been in Rent, As You Like It, Children's Hour, as well as several others at Clemson and has just been cast in Guys and Dolls.  Katelyn is very grateful for this opportunity to work professionally on an original play!

Jason Farr (Derrick) is thrilled to be back for another appearance at Centre Stage.  Jason is a local actor separated from Kevin Bacon by one degree.  He is a comedian, as well, who has been seen at various venues in the area.  You can hear Jason on the venerable radio morning program Awake with Drake.  Originally from Spartanburg, Jason earned his degree in Mass Communication from Winthrop University and now lives in Greenville.  He is proud to be a part of the amazing local art scene.  Jason would like to thank everyone at Centre Stage and his friends and family for their wonderful support.
