"a seamless ensemble ... side-splitting performance and one of the best productions mounted on a Greenville stage this theater season." George Kanzler Metro Beat, April 10, 2007 | Read the entire text of the review in a new window.
"Eureka! ... a giant hit ... a quartet of heavyweight talent who unerringly bridges slapstick hilarity to brittle pathos ... so many highlights, it's not possible to list half of what goes down ... a must-see ... Allen Evans (David O. Selznick) is delighted to be making his CSSC debut in Moolight and Magnolias. Favorite local roles include: GLT - Tito Merrelli in Lend Me A Tenor, Hercule Poirot in Black Coffee and Charlie in Tintypes. Regional Theatre credits include: Yale Rep - Nick in What the Butler Saw with Bob Balaban and Patricia Clarkson, Damis in Tartuffe with Austin Pendleton, Hotspur in Richard II, The Bear in Chopin In Space (world premiere); Actors Theatre of Louisville - James in The Boy Who Ate The Moon (world premiere directed by Jon Jory), Thomas in The Grapes of Wrath with Chris Cooper, Flute in A Midsummer Night's Dream. He also appeared as a hot-headed medical intern and a meddling news-team member on the daytime drama Guiding Light. Thanks to BJ Koonce for her gracious tenacity, with special thanks to Ben Robinson for the gift of this cast, his collaborative spirit and the exploration. (CSSC photo by Guy Perticone)
Tim Brosnan (Ben Hecht) comes to us directly from Temple Theatre's (Sanford, NC) production of The Fantasticks. Nine days before rehearsals began for that show, he completed a two-month, 135-performance run at Dollywood as arch villain Silas Barnaby in what the Pigeon Forge, TN theme park called their "most elaborate stage show ever," Babes In Toyland. Dolly Parton herself joined the cast for opening night singing a song written especially for the occasion. His other credits include roles at Flat Rock Playhouse (Flat Rock, NC), Chaffin's Barn (Nashville, TN), Stage One (Louisville, KY), Northern Lights Summer Playhouse (Hazelhurst, WI) and Theater IV (Richmond, VA). A South Carolina Arts Commission-approved theater artist, Tim last appeared in Greenville as Morton Fullerton in The Edith Whartons at Centre Stage. Tim thanks Catherine and Tikie Christophillis for providing accommodations far beyond the call of duty and for being so darn nice besides. (CSSC photo by Guy Perticone)
J. Michael Craig (Victor Fleming) is pleased to appear in his 11th play here at Centre Stage. The list includes Sweeney in Sweeney Todd, Dr. Kelekian in W;t, Sam Peliczowski in the 40 character, 1 person show Fully Committed and the recent 35 character, 1 person show I Am My Own Wife. Something of a Greenville institution, Craig has also appeared in 14 shows at The Warehouse Theatre including Mitch in Four Beers and Scapino in Scapino; 18 shows at Greenville Little Theatre including John Adams in 1776 and Thurston Wheelis in Greater Tuna. Michael performs regularly with the South Carolina Repertory Company on Hilton Head and the Shuler Theatre in Raton, New Mexico. His video credits include "Unexpected Bill" in Advance America's regional ad campaign and his voiceover credits are too numerous to list. As he is so fond of saying, he dropped out of college, where he was majoring in theater, because he was too busy acting. (CSSC photo by Guy Perticone)
Glenda ManWaring (Miss Poppenghul) is very excited to have the opportunity to perform at CSSC for the first time. Her theatrical credits include Birdie in The Little Foxes, Lilly in Ah, Wilderness, Elsa in The Sound of Music, Lilly St. Regis in Annie, Rosemary in Picnic, Mrs. Paroo in The Music Man, Nancy in Oliver, Princess of France in Love's Labours Lost and many others in local theatres. In addition, she has made numerous radio commercials and industrial videos and was recently cast in several independent films. By day she works at Southside Fellowship in their children's ministry. She is the proud mother of Chelsey and Paige and thanks her wonderful husband Todd for allowing her to pursue her dreams. (CSSC photo by Guy Perticone)
