Queens of country music rule Centre Stage August 6-29
Polish up the rhinestones and break out those cowboy boots! Centre Stage presents Country Queens: Nashville’s Leading Ladies, an homage to the legendary queens of country music featuring our own queens of the stage singing those love ‘em, leave ‘em and can’t do without ‘em songs made famous by Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Kitty Wells, Reba McEntire and Barbara Mandrell. These extraordinary women have defined classic country style for generations. The evening highlights their breakout songs, signature songs, and number one hits.
This special concert will be headlined by Greenville musical artists Debra Capps, Cheryl Connelly, Tamy Heard, Summer Keller, Katie Martin, Diane Mitchell, Cindy Mixon and Meredith Reed. Benjamin P. Robinson will direct. His Centre Stage directorial credits include Beehive, Sophie Tucker: Last of the Red Hot Mamas (which he also wrote), The Fantasticks, and The Dining Room.

Centre Stage partners with the Metropolitan Arts Council (MAC) to present the works of Upstate visual artists in our public areas during the run of each production. Our featured artists during Country Queens are Barbara Stitt and Jane Young.
Artist statement: Barbara Stitt
My inspiration comes from almost any subject matter that sparks my interest at the time, and I have always been fascinated by pattern, design, texture and color. I enjoy working with these applications on various supports (paper, board, canvas, fabric etc.) in a random and spontaneous manner, then bringing the chaos into order. The process of creating a painting, for me, is similar to solving a mystery which must be brought to a believable conclusion.
Artist statement: Jane Young
As artists, we define and share our world through creation. Every piece of art has meaning or connection for someone, inviting him or her to share the journey. William Faulkner wrote: “And who better to save man’s humanity than the writer, the poet, the artist…” That is the sum of our measure as artists.
